In 2003 when my great-nephew was diagnosed with Autism I was asked to help.
I had no idea what I could do as I had no training nor did I fully
understand what Autism was. On Mother's Day weekend a room was built for
Chris & I to do therapy and away we went. In the years that followed I
became very knowledgeable in what Autism was and all the many different
levels that this disorder is. I am very proud of the work we both did to
get Chris to where he is now. From not knowing a thing about what to do or
how to do it, we did it together. Today when I walk into the house I get a
big hug, he say "Hi Aunt Barb" and we have a nice conversation. A long way
from putting a note on the door to have everyone say hi to him and look him
in the eye.

My husband Tim and I have five children between us and two grandchildren and
do this because the need to help children with Autism is close to our
hearts.
